In commemoration of the year 2022 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, IWOGRA engaged in a public awareness campaign on social media which commenced on Friday 25th November 2022, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and ended on Saturday, 10th December 2022, International Human Rights Day. This year marks the 31st anniversary since the inception of the “16 days of activism” in 1991. Though the expected result has not been achieved, there have been a great improvement in human rights and the perception of women and girls, and people at large. The theme for 2022 is “UNITE! Activism to end violence against women and girls”.
An online approach was deployed, whereby informative e-fliers were shared daily as breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the 16 days of activism. IWOGRA participated in the campaign by sharing e-fliers on social media which contains pictures of women, girls, men and boys, and their campaign messages that addresses various forms of gender-based violence. The messages were placed in dishes which signifies the messages being served as food for thought to the general public in order to sensitize them on violence against women and girls and call for an end.
